Session 3: We're In This Together... Collaboration
Activity 1: Assessment Think-Pair-Share
Think about your experiences with using technology to collect assessment data. Share with your partner your thoughts about how it went. What worked well? What challenges did you face? Is there anything you would do differently? Would you recomend your chosen tool?
Using Technology to Collaborate
Watch the "Collaborative Digital Presentations Enrich Projects" video. As you watch the video make note of how students are collaborating together. How does the use of technology enhance this lesson?
Together, we will score this lesson using the TIM Observation Tool (TIM-O).
With a partner, brainstorm technology tools that can be used to enhance collaboration. Enter these tools into the Collaboration Tech Tools Google Doc. Include the following in your entry:
Name of the tool
link to the tool
brief description of how it can be used for collaboration
Does it assist with project management, co-creation, or resource management
Pick a tool that you are not familiar with from one of the sources below. Visit the site and explore the tool. Add any pertinent information you find to our Google Doc.

Homework for Session 3
Click here to view the list of blog addresses for your classmates.
Reply to someone else's blog post about how they used technology for assessment in class last week. Ask a follow up question, provide feedback, or elaborate on their ideas.
Use a technology tool to collaborate with colleagues, or use it with your students. You may select a tool from the "New Technologies and 21st Century Skills" website, our class Google Doc, or another tool of your choice.
Don't forget to check the privacy policy and terms of service to make sure your tool is age appropriate and doesn't require parental consent before using it with students. (Or ask me to check that out for you.) Remember, students must always have consent to create accounts, which should be done at home.
After selecting and exploring the features and capabilities of a Web 2.0 collaboration tool of your choice, share your experiences by posting a review to your blog.
What skills (e.g. image-editing, programming) do you need to have before using this tool?
What resources (e.g. email address, contact information, microphone, camera) do you need to have before using this tool?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of using this tool in a teaching/training environment?
How would you use this tool in your classroom/institution/organization?
